Craigwood Licensing and Accreditation

Our agency is accredited to CCA standards.

Our residential facilities are licensed by the Government of Ontario.

What is licensing?

Licensing is a regulatory process of verifying that our organization’s facilities and procedures are in compliance with the legal requirements stipulated for safety and accountability by Ministries of the Government. Craigwood’s program facilities are licensed through detailed inspections conducted onsite by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services.

What is accreditation?

Accreditation is a voluntary process of verifying that our organization conducts its operations in accordance with rigorous standards set by a recognized professional authority.

Craigwood is accredited under standards established by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation. CCA is an independent national not-for-profit organization that reviews health and social service agencies across Canada. It was founded by professional associations representing such fields as children’s mental health, child welfare and family services. The CCA accreditation process conducts intensive on-site inspections and interviews to measure agency standards and performance across multiple facets, from financial management and record keeping to service delivery.

Craigwood has been an accredited Children’s Mental Health agency since 1997. Our accreditation status is reviewed and renewed on a 4-year cycle.

“By choosing to go through the CCA accreditation process, Craigwood is demonstrating its accountability to the community and its commitment to providing the highest quality programs and services”
Barbara Wiktorowicz, Executive Director
Canadian Centre for Accreditation.

Benefits of Accreditation:

Accreditation provides a model for creating high quality services, addressing all aspects of operating a children’s mental health centre, in detail.

The CCA model of accreditation involves both self-evaluation by a centre and independent verification by a review team of senior professionals in children’s mental health. It combines the advantages of internal and external evaluation systems together with an emphasis on education and growth.

Accreditation demonstrates our professional standards at not only an operational level but also in our business management and community governance. It ensures a consistent level of public accountability and, through our participation in the process, promotes a culture of quality and safety throughout the organization.
